Plenary Sessions

Trends and Tremors in the Sustainability Space:
An Overview of the Current Landscape

In the midst of concerning fragmentation, persistent incrementalism and a lot of noise in a variety of directions, there are also some positive patterns and promising signals. This panel of experts will break down the most
major forces shaping the intersection of business and sustainability today, with important implications for what’s ahead in the near and medium term.

Next Horizons of Transformation:
Overcoming the 'Definition Wars' and Finding
Effective Ways to Frame Necessary Action

What are we really after in our sustainability work, and is it adequate and enough? Are we perhaps
missing the forest for the trees in some ways? How do we re-calibrate or update our approaches
without getting overwhelmed or lost? This discussion will analyze the big picture of the sea of
definitions and frameworks driving sustainability strategies at present, and then recommend
smart ways to consolidate and unify key ideas without going astray.

Getting Real about Leadership and Sustainability:
An Honest Look at Progress and Critical Gaps

There have been – and continue to be – significant gaps between sustainability strategies and effective execution, between theory and action. What are these gaps and why do they persist? This conversation will take an honest look at the most common ways sustainability efforts have been left lacking in practice, with the goal of arriving at the kinds of leadership changes and practical adjustments
that could address critical issues and take us forward.

Reimagining Business Models:
What's Working, What's Not Working, and How to Speed Up

This session will focus on innovation at the level of business models and outline paths to speeding up
respective transitions and transformations. Panelists will bring examples of successful rethinking of business models from a range of industries, while also discussing signs of ineffective or insufficient attempts. If you aren’t sure how this applies to your business or industry, you will want to hear from, and meet, the experts featured here.
